“Fallen leaves lying on the grass in the November sun bring more happiness than the daffodils.” – Cyril Connolly

“I loved autumn, the one season of the year that God seemed to have put there just for the beauty of it.” —Lee Maynard

Surrounded by the changing colors of autumn I drove out of our property upon hundreds of russet, amber, ochre and golden leaves fallen from the towering oak and walnut trees. I approached the small bridge that goes over the creek as four young deer pranced on the other side heading to the wide meadow beyond the barn. Just then a song came up on my CD player, a glorious tune from the banjo and a beautiful voice singing…
“Can’t you see it… Can’t you hear all earth praising His name? ” *
Yes, I could see it and hear it, at that glorious moment surrounded by the golden yellow trees. I hope you all get the opportunity to step outside this fall and enjoy nature in all its autumnal glow.
Only a few days until our autumn opening. I hope you can all make it. Sarah’s Sourdough will be available for purchase, and also complimentary baked goods, coffee and tea. The Woodland Village will be open, enjoyed by young and old alike.

From the Pottery Studio
Even though I have a beautiful home studio and everything I need to do my pottery here, I decided to take some lessons at our local art center to try to get out of a rut I’ve been in with my clay.
It’s been so much fun to create at the Guthrie Art Center. I’d forgotten how nice it is to problem solve and get inspired while working in the same space as other potters!
Just got back from the Texas Clay Festival in Gruene as well. So good to finally experience that!
So all that I’ve made in the past few months is glazed and ready for you to see on Saturday. And I can’t wait to get back to throwing and creating new things for the next opening!
If you’re local, check out the Guthrie Art Center!

*About the Ocean Song… It is written, arranged, played and sung by Sarah with the Naylor Family Band accompaniment. The CD is available for $5 and on a side note Sarah hits her highest note of all time in the Ocean Song and the cello played by Tera imitates the sound of a whale. 🙂
The Ocean Song
There’s a great big ocean
Created by Your hand
You filled it up with creatures,
Water and the sand.
There goes the stinging sea ray
The porpoises at play
Down in the depths of the ocean
They bring glory to your name.
Can’t you see it?
Don’t you hear all earth is praising His name?
Sea otters eatin’ seaweed
Starfish get around
Somewhere out there swimming
A shark without a sound.
See the dolphins surfing
Whales breaching in the waves
Silhouetted in the sunset
They sing Your Awesome praise.
Can’t you see it?
Don’t you hear all earth is praising His Name?

May you all be blessed with peace and health and that glorious autumn glow. See you soon.
Love from all of us at the Artistry
